JapanFest Atlanta is a two‑day cultural festival held in September at the Gas South Convention Center in Duluth, just outside Atlanta. Expect an impressive lineup including Kabuki theater, Rakugo comic storytelling, Taiko drumming, martial arts (e.g., kendo, sumo), traditional dance, and musical performances. Attendees can engage in bonsai-making, origami, calligraphy, tea ceremonies, kimono fittings, and visit festival-style vendor areas like Ginza Dori for games, crafts, and souvenirs. Enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine from local vendors featuring sushi, ramen, yakisoba, shaved ice, bentō, and even a beer garden. A special Children’s Area offers cultural crafts and even o-mikoshi (portable shrine) parades so young ones can actively participate.
